Shawnee Health is excited to announce the addition of an in-house pharmacy to their Carbondale campus.
The addition of this pharmacy will be a great benefit for the patients of Shawnee Health. When asked about the development, Shawnee Health’s Executive Director, Patsy Jensen stated, “As part of Shawnee Health’s commitment to improving the health and welfare of the underserved populations of southern Illinois, we are excited to expand access to convenient and affordable pharmacy services for our patients.” In addition to accepting all health insurance plans, Shawnee Health offers discount drug programs and sliding fee scales for services to assist individuals, based on family size and income.
The location of their new pharmacy will be in the health center of their Carbondale Campus on Lewis Lane. With several neighborhoods surrounding the location, the pharmacy will be easily accessible and on the route of public transportation. The new pharmacy will also include a drive-up window option.
The construction will include some minor renovations to the internal layout of the current health center, including creating a corridor that will lead to the new pharmacy. The construction is in the early stage, with completion expected in spring/summer 2023.
In addition, in 2021, Shawnee Health purchased the neighboring, vacant, nursing home as part of their campus expansion plan. Plans for additional facilities/ services will be announced at a future date.
