Why Choose Shawnee?

Why Choose Shawnee?

We take “Growing your own” to the next level

Shawnee Health is dedicated to ensuring the success of any new employee who walks through our doors. Our unique onboarding program was created to do just that. It includes concepts to help integrate new employees to the organization, familiarize new employees with their roles and responsibilities quickly to enhance productivity, provide training and development opportunities to ensure new employees have the necessary skills for success, teach company values, culture, and goals, and engage new employees.

Consisting of 5 steps that follow employees from job offer, through orientation and on the job training, and concludes with performance measures to rate competency, our onboarding program follows new hires through their first full year at Shawnee Health.

Shawnee Health prioritizes internal candidates, and helping employees thrive within our organization. We offer a variety of programs that help staff members grow. Whether you want to advance in your current role or explore a new career path, we support your professional journey.

To be considered eligible, employees must have completed 1 or more years of continuous service with Shawnee Health and a minimum of 24 hours per week.  Additionally, employees who receive education assistance are required to sign a Repayment Agreement that requires them to remain employed by Shawnee Health for a specific period of time.

Student Loan Repayment Program

It’s becoming more often that the burden of student debt can be overwhelming for most individuals. We are proud to offer a student loan repayment program designed to alleviate the financial burden of higher education for both our clinical and non clinical staff. This allows our employees to focus on their careers and personal growth. By supporting our team’s financial wellbeing, we enable them to deliver exceptional care and remain dedicated to our mission of serving southern Illinois. Our Student Loan Repayment Program offers 3 options for payment including monthly payments based on the employees’ years of service, lump sum payment up to $10,000 per calendar year, or both.

To be considered eligible, employees must have completed 1 or more years of continuous service with Shawnee Health and a minimum of 30 hours per week. Additionally, employees who participate in the Student Loan Repayment Program are required to sign a Repayment Agreement that requires employees receiving assistance to remain employed by Shawnee Health for a specific period of time.
