Shawnee Health Service would like to welcome two new members to their leadership team, Christina Carney and Jennifer Schindl! Christina has accepted the Chief Operating Officer position at Shawnee Health Service in Carterville, IL. Jennifer Schindl has accepted the Chief Director of Social Services position for Shawnee and will be taking over for Carol Aronson upon her retirement.
From Carterville, IL, Christina Carney joined Shawnee’s leadership team on Monday, October 18, 2021. She brings to the table over twenty-five years of experience in healthcare leadership and administration. Christina previously worked for Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation (SIHF) before coming to Shawnee Health Service. SIHF is a non-profit health system that is comprised of thirty-one Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) across south-western and south-central Illinois, a controlled affiliate safety-net hospital and a community mental health center. SIHF provides services that include family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health, OB/GYN, and dental. While there as COO, Christina provided executive leadership, program creation and optimization, and management of day-to-day operations. Christina also has worked in leadership positions at Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) and SSM Health. When asked about her thoughts in regards to joining the organization she stated, “I am very excited to again be working with an organization that provides quality care and services to the most vulnerable patients and clients in my home’s communities”.
Newly relocated Goreville, IL resident, Jennifer Schindl joined the Shawnee leadership team on Monday, September 13, 2021. Jennifer comes to Shawnee with over twenty-five years of experience in leadership and management positions for non-profit organizations. Before coming to SHS, she held the position of Vice President of Programs for Community Support Services (CSS) in Brookfield, IL. CSS provides programs designed to help adults, children, and families of individuals with intellectual/ developmental disabilities. Jennifer has also worked at Equip for Equality in Chicago, IL and Garden Center Services in Burbank, IL. Jennifer stated, “There are some big shoes to fill taking over for Carol Aronson, however I am extremely confident in the future of Shawnee Alliance and our ability to serve the vulnerable populations of our region.”
