If you are looking for help to address challenges, stress, or alleviate mental health symptoms Shawnee Health may be right for you. We have therapists who specialize in providing compassionate and safe spaces for all populations. Shawnee Health might not be appropriate if you are looking for the following specific evaluations or services: • Autism • DUI evaluation • Firearm Possession Mental Health Certification • Fitness for parenting • Fitness for work • Neuropsychology • Marriage, couples, and family therapy
We provide individual therapy for patients age six and up. Shawnee Health’s counselors are committed to using evidenced based therapies that address mental wellness, solutions, and skill building. You can find specific treatment approaches in each counselor’s bio.
Your first appointment will be an assessment that addresses your history and needs for treatment. The assessment is typically 60 minutes in length. Following the assessment, your therapist will provide recommendations in regards to your care.
Shawnee requests that the first visit be face-to-face. After your first appointment, you and your therapist will discuss plans for future sessions. Shawnee Health uses Doximity for telehealth video visits, which does not require an application download.
Generally, the information that you share with your therapist remains confidential. However, there are exceptions: All of our therapists are licensed, or supervised by a licensed therapist, and are mandated reporters. Behavioral Health staff are required by law, to report suspected abuse or neglect of a child(ren), individuals who are elderly or individuals with a disability. In addition, we are required by law to report if a patient verbalizes a plan and intent to harm themselves or others. Shawnee Health utilizes an integrated model of care. This means your medical, behavioral, and social service providers work as a team and share information in order to provide you with the best care possible. In our commitment to you we will: • Listen to your questions • Help answer your health questions • Focus on “best practice” medicine • Keep complete accurate records • Coordinate your care through additional services SH offers behavioral health confidential services to youth 12-26 years of age; these services are not billed to insurance or private pay. If you need confidential services please discuss further with your Shawnee Health provider, behavioral health staff, or your therapist.
Shawnee Health is committed to providing quality health care for our patients at the lowest possible cost and ensuring affordable services are available to everyone in the community. It is your responsibility as the patient to understand the terms of your insurance coverage. Please call the phone number on the back of your member identification card if you have questions about what is covered under your insurance plan. Shawnee Health will submit claims to your insurance company for you. Insurance deductibles, coinsurance, and copays are due at the time of check-in. Shawnee Health sees all patients regardless of ability to pay. You may be eligible for discounts through Shawnee Health’s financial assistance program if you are uninsured or if you have insurance with deductibles, coinsurance, and copays. All Shawnee Health clinics are currently closed. If you need to get ahold of the On-Call Provider, call 618-519-9200, press option #1, select your “specialty” needed and follow the prompts for our On-Call Provider. If you are dealing with an emergency please call 911 or visit the ER.
